What Is a Black Background Session?

A black background session is a fine art portrait experience that captures the expression and beauty of your horse in its purest form. Using natural light and a minimalist composition, each image becomes a statement piece elegant, emotional, and utterly timeless.

How Is the Signature Look Created?

No backdrop is needed. Your horse is positioned in a barn doorway where natural light falls across their features while the background fades into shadow. The result is that iconic black background effect rich, refined, and dramatic.

Preparing Your Horse

Every detail matters. To ensure your images have a polished, gallery quality finish:

• Groom your horse to show ready standards.

• Brush or braid the mane and tail.

• Clean and polish tack or halters.

Session Duration

These sessions are intentionally unhurried yet efficient, typically 30 minutes per horse.

Including Family

Black background portraits are best suited for equine (or canine) subjects only. If you’d like to include yourself or family members, we can plan a separate portrait experience to complement these fine art images.
